It's All In The Eye of The Storm

It's All In The Eye of The Storm

Dreams are the touchstones of our character. - Thoreau

1939-wizard-of-oz-blu-ray-yellow-brick-road - Image Journal

lost somewhere in a dreamy, kansas twister
i wonder if wrong-sized, ruby slippers can cause a blister
amidst slumbering, pain-relieving poppies
no longer a need for floppies or copies, only colonoscopies
directions, gps, gumption, atriums, ventricals and cerebellums conspicuously nowhere to be found
witches on bicycles and broomsticks with flying monkeys abound
it takes oxygen and water to make rust
woodsmen use chain saws so what's all the fuss
they don't wear a funnel for a hat
reality and rainbows can attest to that
they don't wear metal, bow ties
you can trust me on that because i only tell little, white lies

wizards don't always live in castles
goodness doesn't necessarily float in bubbles or wear tassels
everyone with something to sell, who can we really trust
surely not a man hiding behind a curtain with white, thinning hair wearing a truss
all that glitters isn't gold
or so i'm told
you can get munchkins at any dunkin' donuts
yellow brick roads always have their ruts

it doesn't take courage to roar
if there's no place like home then what's it all for
common sense will suffice for a brain
clouds don't necessarily mean it will rain
a heart can be broken
a diploma is merely a token
oldies but goodies along with any other shiny ditty
as foggy crystal balls and long, faux fingernails threaten, "ill get you my pretty"
fire burns better with a fan
wd-40 will suffice for a lubricant can
reaching an emerald city is a long span

oz never did give nothing to the tin man

Author's Note

Pete
"The gentle rain which waters my beans and keeps me in the house today is not drear and melancholy, but good for me too. Though it prevents my hoeing them, it is of far more worth than my hoeing. If it should continue so long as to cause the seeds to rot in the ground and destroy the potatoes in the low lands, it would still be good for the grass on the uplands, and, being good for the grass, would be good for me, too." - Thoreau

A nice thought from Thoreau...even nicer notions from your poem...dreaming is quite amazing..so many thoughts drifting into our brain all at once...why are we not confused? Sometimes we just let our dreams and notions take over and that's is great, especially on a rainy afternoon....your dream encompasses so much...I love the ending, which sums up a lot of you dreams "Oz never
did give nothing to the tin man"....keep dreaming!!

I like the rhyming of the words you maintained through out the poem. But you know few people want to live for people, reason being their adoration, why a meera bhai left her husband and dedicated her life to krishna, though Krishna never lived on earth during her time, so few people dedicate their life for few. Please dont force the people for their will against and later to be blamed that you slept with someone else, then why me now.... I want my true love and adoration for my man, so that he realises my love for him may not be this birth but the next.. Thats all i can say which it matches what you are trying to convey by saying fan. I dont mind being a sanyasi, for him , if he still doesnt undersatnds me. Though a perfect human life is to be sanyasi at heart and family person outside, I would prefer both outside and inside. For lord krishna is also a perfect sanyasi and bachelor, though been with many woman, he doesnt get alluded by women like Hanuman. But few people think external physical pleasure is everything to lead a life but for me not. Its just a part of it.
