Loneliness (Once Living Proof)

Loneliness is the poverty of self; solitude is the richness of self. - May Sarton

The physical symptoms of loneliness - Abacare Blog

"damn those kids", running through the neglected yard of a mistaken, forgetful brain
rattling against an uninsulated, window pane
the one with missing, thirsty putty and things it once knew now arcane
the wind outside mumbles a long forgotten name
a time when yesterday held reason and tomorrow was sane
when gold and red corpuscles found their way through a collapsed, vericose, spider vein

these four walls are closing in
all they do is hold up the roof
turning daily existence into a twisted, forlorn spoof
if you don't believe it, just check back in about forever's time
when now is frozen in twilight and drawn curtains have no rhyme
where the barren hand of loneliness has no erect fingers with which to flash a peace sign
silent and aloof
there, you'll see the weary,  forsaken shadows of

once living proof

Author's Note

Pete
"I have heard of a man lost in the woods and dying of famine and exhaustion at the foot of a tree, whose loneliness was relieved by the grotesque visions with which, owing to bodily weakness, his diseased imagination surrounded him, and which he believed to be real. So also, owing to bodily and mental health and strength, we may be continually cheered by a like but more normal and natural society, and come to know that we are never alone." - Thoreau

Very nicely done, a real quality effort
The cold dark of winter make loneliness even that much worse at this time of year
many thanks go out to those who try to make it otherwise
I think you need to keep this displayed where tomorrow remains sane
