When Once Isn't Enough

The Spirit Provides New Birth

i think i was about fifty and had just left church one day and happened to run into my mother whom i hadn't seen in quite some time
"i'm born again", i told her
"not with me", she replied, "once was quite enough and i'm still recovering"

Author's Note

Pete
"The intellect of most men is barren. They neither fertilize or are fertilized. It is the marriage of the soul with nature that makes the intellect fruitful, that gives birth to imagination...without nature-awakened imagination most persons do not really live in the world, they merely pass through it as they live dull lives of quiet desperation." - Thoreau
