A Poem by Pete
"

The birds I heard today, which, fortunately, did not come within the scope of my science, sang as freshly as if it had been the first morning of creation. - Thoreau

i don't know the words
fluent in shined jibberish
don't tell mockingbirds

Author's Note

Pete
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird." - Harper Lee

That book is an all time classic Pete and sadly it has been cancelled from the curriculum in some schools. Mockingbirds are known for their fine singing. Bird song is certainly a gift. This little poem speaks to me about communication. So important to prevent misunderstandings. I would love to know what our avian friends are singing. I can only guess. Have a good Thursday.

So the mockingbirds are known for their singing. But is it true hummingbirds hum because they don't know the words?

maybe you could teach them. some birds actually can mimic human speech - amazing.
Mockingbirds sing beautifully while your notes are jagged and sharp. Sometimes we can not communicate properly is what this piece says to me

This is wonderful, got a little chuckle at the ending. Harper Lee was one amazing author.
