Okay?

Okay?

A Poem by Pete

Music is perpetual, and only the hearing is intermittent. - Thoreau

Jam Session Photograph by Allen Beatty ...

"hey"
listen
the music knows the way
with plenty to say
even more to sway
like a roll in the hay
not just yesterday
but each and every day
so come out and play
go for a cool ride in its slick sleigh
turn black and white to grey
don't worry about being led astray
it never will mislead or betray

come what will, come what may
every day a d-day
carrying rhythmic souls like a blue jay
tether your boat to its quay
feel the rhythmic spray
horses aren't the only ones that, "neigh"
join the frey
let it play
dig deep and don't be afraid to pay
spin something new with its clay
its scale doesn't weigh
turning "them" into "they"
it's okay to dance and clap your hands when you pray
all it takes is the press of a button
and lips that say, "yea"
okay?

Author's Note

Pete
"Was awakened in the night to a strain of music dying away, - passing travellers singing. My being was so expanded and infinitely and divinely related for a brief season that I saw how unexhausted, how almost wholly unimproved, was man's capacity for a divine life. When I remembered what a narrow and finite life I should anon awake to!" - Thoreau
