The Weed That Feeds (Food For The Soul)

The Weed That Feeds (Food For The Soul)

A Poem by Pete
"

Among the signs of autumn, I perceive The Roman wormwood (called by learned men Ambrosia elatior, food for gods. - Thoreau

"
Wormwood | Plants, Uses, Absinthe ...

order in chaos
north sides are where you'll find moss
wormwood's bitter cost

Author's Note

Pete
"Nature doth thus kindly heal every wound. By the mediation of a thousand little mosses and fungi, the most unsightly objects become radiant of beauty. There seem to be two sides of this world, presented us at different times, as we see things in growth or dissolution, in life or death. And seen with the eye of the poet, as God sees them, all things are alive and beautiful." - Thoreau

the last few years, in our area, there has been produced considerably more moss/lichen/etc. than in previous years, even going so far as to also cover east, west and sometimes even south of many plants and structures.
It would be interesting to hear just what Thoreau thinks about this and also about the fact that you feel the necessity to be so heavily armed!
Just wondering.

I live in the Appalachian Mountains where in the forests there is much moss, covering rocks, other wild plants. I love the feel land look of moss (we get at least 54 inches of rain per year) .....to me it's part of the living chain of nature...and lovely
