Welcome To The Real World

Welcome To The Real World

Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something. - Thoreau

Living Your Dreams vs The Real World

save your rainbows and butterflies
sunshine and glowing full moons
hearts carved in tree bark and angels rolling stones
singing, dancing and praying 'neath stained glass
candles, honey and baby cakes
don't confuse dandruff for snow flakes
rain doesn't just wash, sometimes it floods
you need soap and froth to make suds
all life isn't a day at the beach
heaven doesn't always have to be within reach

virgins and violins also weep
nightmares can be a part of deep sleep
a world where sometimes we have to roll down the window and apply the brakes
doing whatever it takes
that which moves also shakes
as faith and time both take their toll and raise the stakes
complete with their unavoidable heartaches
not all flags are unfurled
not all moustaches are upwardly curled
welcome to the real world

"However mean your life is, meet and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise." - Thoreau
