![]() Always Go in The Woods Alone (Finding God)A Poem by Pete![]() If Nature is our mother, then God is our father. - Thoreau![]() away from spent fumes of cars and humanity far away from the hot air breezes of foolish, unknowing tongues i go deep into the woods there is an unfathomable presence here, sacred, divine, almost eerie amidst the scent of pine and decaying leaves occasional crinkle of scurrying squirrel or chipmunk rows of tall pines stand at attention like the kings guards bristles of their hats scraping the sky sunlight finding its way through and around everything is so silent but alive its reserved story screams goodness and mercy truth, justice and understanding peace purity unadulterated freshness old stone walls mark what dead men once claimed as their own in the name of what i do not know freedom perhaps survival greed and exploitation maybe maybe just to leave their mark like "kilroy was here' thankfully now it's just a park trees still protected by their thick bark darkness rubbing sticks together to form a star's spark being awed creation unflawed me awed finding god © 2024 PeteAuthor's Note
