“Every child begins the world again, to some extent, and loves to stay outdoors, even in wet and cold. It plays house, as well as horse, having an instinct for it...At last we know not what it is to live in the open air, and our lives are domestic in more senses than we think.” - Thoreau

Dear Pete
there is something melancholy about this short yet beautiful piece…. i listened to the music and it seemed as if you were looking back on moments between yourself and your daughter that were not so pleasant….perhaps she did not want to be called “daughter” ….the tears are your tears as you describe them as a plastic ocean…. also very sad…..but maybe it’s tears of joy….. all children are born to explore;
i tried to listen closely to the words, but the refrain kept coming back to me in a negative way…usually fathers and daughters are close….

As a dad to two daughters and grandfather to three granddaughters I've got to say I've a huge preference for the feminine gender. All girls are basically "daddy's girls" if they've had a good dad. But each personality, each heart and mind, is a new garden to plant flowers in and they grow more beautifully when nurtured well.

Sometimes it takes so many years for sons or daughters to appreciate their parents' love
and good intentions...It took me many years to understand this myself.
Love this piece. Less is more, and this piece is proof of this.

dear Pete... who knows the mysteries of the heart; as a child, we learn more at the Ocean as the Waves splash on the Shore. A father and a daughter discover the vastness together. softly. Pat

I love reading, writing, music, nature, God and feeling emotion, not necessarily in that order. To me, these things go hand in hand. My favorite writer is Henry David Thoreau. I think he was a geni.. more..
