Mom, when in the midst of divorce, came to despise my father and often said I was just a smaller version of him. She meant to hurt me with those words, (and certainly did) but came to regret it years later. Funny, though, the young me was more like her, but the old me is more like Dad. I think there must be something to that saying about apple trees and their fruit.

It's interesting how the DNA from both parents factors into their offspring. Not just the physical features, but the mannerisms, the character traits and overall demeanor. And I think it changes as we age, becoming more pronounced and more like the mold from which it was cast. My younger brother and I favor my Mom. We're both emotional, sensitive, and more outgoing. Where my two older siblings favor my Dad. Somewhat reclusive, reserved and quiet. I like having a part of both of them in me. It's made me who I am, and I'm still a work in progress!

I love reading, writing, music, nature, God and feeling emotion, not necessarily in that order. To me, these things go hand in hand. My favorite writer is Henry David Thoreau. I think he was a geni.. more..
