![]() Walking in The RainA Poem by Pete![]() We should go forth on the shortest walk, perchance, in the spirit of undying adventure, never to return, — prepared to send back our embalmed hearts only as relics to our desolate kingdoms. - Thoreau![]() seeking solace my life less than aweless not quite so flawless i went walking in the rainlooking for answers and reasons trying to explain my pain surviving 'neath heavy, groovy, gray clouds ducking 'tween overweight drops trying to avoid telling crowds feeling like an actor on a set with faux props wearing dark sunglasses no backstage passes, only ratty old mops and useless, fat asses much to my disdain despite my best efforts, i only got wet unable to forget searching for god in hopes of having a tête-à-tête my soul bearing life's cruel stain walking in the rain maybe next time i'll carry an umbrella after all, i'm still a pretty good fella despite this life's indelible, stubborn stain twisting an ankle, leaning on a candy cane slowly and quietly going insane seemingly little to gain oblivious to the direction of the weather vane hey now, sure, what's a little sprain when you're trying to stay dry ... waking in the rain © 2025 PeteAuthor's Note
