A Poem by artimus handsclub
"

"
today, the world runs red
and as the colours start to fade,
grey prevails
cries seldom heard become the ringtones of
everyday bystanders
nights are defined by their absence of safety
and not their absence of light
parents outlive their kids with increasing frequency
but medicine continues to develop

today, the world turns grey
like through the eyes of a dog
what once roared enveloping a thousand coals
can no longer light a candle
the human race a fitting race -
we constantly run from fear
like particles in a solid transitioning to a gas
connections break

today,
my idea for a hike dissolves in the ink of yesterdays
newspaper
night time exercise makes vulnerable targets
and we are told to lock our doors and stay together

today,
fear fuels the dreams of the masses
whilst guns and knifes make daily headlines
and what light is shed on the situation
be a blood stained dusk as the colour leaks away
can we truly make progress when every step has to
be carefully placed?
one wrong turn can cost your life
but isnt that the problem?

yesterday i learned to love
and tomorrow i will learn to hate
as winter approaches the nights draw in
and im scared
to stretch my legs
because we do not live in a world
that can define us
as human beings

the shells of human weres litter the streets
as we become evermore recluse
and ignore the solution

the only being we are
is being part of the problem.

This poem captures the fear that so many people are feeling in today's age. It seems that at every turn there is more tragedy, violence, or death. I loved your use of color in this poem, it really made the meaning stick. I also enjoyed the part about the hike, it feels as if we can no longer do what we want due to safety concerns. It is a hard time, but hopefully we as humans can begin to start working together to solve the problems that we have instead of creating more and making the ones we already have worse.
