Mother Loose

Mother Loose

A Poem by Samuel Dickens
"

Things have changed

"

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep

And can't know where they are

The wolf came up as she did text

And took them all afar

Bah, bah, bah, the sheep all cry

A' fearing for their lives

While Peter-Peter Pumpkin eater

Lusts for Bo Peep's thighs

Mother Goose, please come quick

And set these matters straight

What? You're passed out on the couch

With Cocaine in your veins?

Oh-dear, oh-my, I'm must go now

To some place far away

If Neptune isn't far enough

I'll choose the Milky Way

Oh how I enjoyed this read! Though I felt a slight chill too. Those sheep don't stand a chance with Bo Peep texting away. Their cries got to me. Mother Goose cannot intervene anymore. She's out cold. Addiction, to texting, sex or drugs is tragic in rhymes and in reality!

Thank you. Though satire, I believe it's not all fiction.

It's as if the whole of nursery rhyme world had gone mad. What a unique take. Did I just imagine Bo Peep texting? If then, negligent sheep herding.

Thanks, Frederick. Yeah, their world is in a mess.
Nursery rhyme characters for adults, highlighting all our faults :) Times they are a changing. Thank you for the smile Sam on a cold wet day. Keeping warm with a cuppa by the fire. Naughty Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and Mother Goose. As for BP Peep a texting temptress :))

Keep safe and well my friend.

I hope so Sam. I live in hope. Take great care of you.
So he forgot the pumpkin finally. That's a big change. And Mother Goose is on the loose. Not so motherly anymore. I felt kind of sad about it. Where did the good ol days go?

Thank you. I meant it in fun, but also a statement of these times.

Enjoyed much! You're welcome 😺
Well Samuel, what guy can say he hasn't listed over Bo Peep's thighs?
Oh! Just me then is it? 😊
I think this should be a series, with perhaps the little old lady who lived in a shoe's forward planning skills called into question, as well as Cinderella's promiscuity. I mean, her name begins sin! 😊

Thanks. Yes, the possibilities are numerous.
I'm so glad to see something new! I hope this is a precursor to much more. I thoroughly enjoyed this snippet.

And yes, things have definitely changed. But we also see mostly the bad stuff going on, because it boosts TV ratings and advertising income. Sometimes those texting are saying things like, "I'm on my way home, Mom, don't worry" or "I'm at the store, honey, do you need anything while I'm here?" And sometimes they are sending a cute picture to cheer up a friend who is feeling down. It's not all empty selfishness. (Although there is that, too.)

With a friend in VA, for years we have been planning on going to a new planet and starting our own society, with only few select friends invited. You will definitely be among those who get an invite. :)
