Midnight Espresso

Midnight Espresso

A Poem by Shawn Purcell
"

Another recent one. Very special person and time....

"

Something isn’t right

Something isn’t there

When it’s time to stay or go;

I look but you’re no where.

On paralyzed breathe

I call my will to share

But if my words come out wrong

Or if they fail to find you there.

Just wait another minute

Cause this can’t be the end

And I can’t stand to walk away
Or taste another sip

Chorus
Just another midnight espresso
And a soft kiss on your lips
A movie on the screen
And all the scenes we missed.

Switch off the lights,

And come a little closer.
Kiss a little slower
Whisper a little lower

And I get lost

In the struggle of pain and joy

And I lose control

In the green hint in  your eyes

I just need to see again

Just to feel alive

To see myself awake

In the dream of you and I

Bridge
In the throes of passion hold me

In tears or on a throne.

I’ve felt the cold

But in your arms I’m safe and warm.

What I like about this, is that with the way that it is written I can hear not one but several different melodies, notes, tunes, and everything. It makes me feel compelled to try to sing it in as many ways as I possibly can that work and don't hinder the lyrics.

wow, are you a singer. I do write music too but I agree there are a lot of ways this one can go.
