What If?

What If?

A Poem by Carla Bartolome Bolisay
"

This is my entry for my school's competition for literature.

"

What If?

I wish I ignore,
that you said 'hello'
now I deplore
what you told me before

What if"
a question and a choice.
What if"
to win or to lose.

What if I let you leave,
will you walk away?
What if I set you free,
will you stay?

You don't have to call me a goner,
If I told you sooner.
You don't have to call me a loser,
If this 'goodbye' never utter.

Now I'm standing at your grave
remaining still and brave,
no sounds would've heard,
no actions would've made.

Deep down my soul
there's a groaning voice.
Asking, "when these 'what ifs'
turn to certainty?"

Mugs were emptied
but the stain will remain
Just like my love
it will forever stay.

I'm writing poetically
to kill this immaturity
that hiding inside my body
longing for you to come back to me.
