You'll Be Gone Soon

You'll Be Gone Soon

A Poem by Qavah Simchah

Why do you want to hold me
When you already know
Eventually,
You will have to let go?
I’m not like water that
Stays on your skin
I’m more like air

You breathe out and breathe in

I can’t stay inside you
You can’t hold me inside;
You’d just get sick
If you tried…
But I love that you want to hold me.

Why do you want to kiss me
When you see in my eyes
Clearly,
I’m afraid of long “goodbyes”?
You’re not like a word
I can bring to my mouth
You’re more like the tide

Rushing in, going out

You can’t stay inside me
I can’t hold you inside;
I’d probably drown
If I tried…
But I love when you want to kiss me.
