Silk and Politics

Silk and Politics

A Poem by Jofer Serapio
"

Just a little something I cooked up

"

Within walls of teal

Hidden beneath endless seas

Stories are one man's meal

Each day, he's contented with one,

   Just one.

Everything at his fingertips

Luxury without any catch

Scarlet robes, satin sheets and chocolate dips

He lives the life we all dream

The life we can't all have.

He has knowledge like no other

He was better than first class

No problems, not a single bother

Peace with one hand, praise with the right

Both feet on sky high clouds.

His heart yearned for antics

Adventure was beneath him

Life isn't all good with just silk and politics

His darkest secret was lust,

   Lust for conflict and chance.

Wretched is peace without war

Gold, to him, was a plenty and common

He wanted a storied scar

Greener grass was always on the other

    Never are there gold pastures.

Ahh, this one leaves you wondering and thinking until you hit the fourth verse and realize the secret "lust". Thank you for entering it into the Tell Me a Secret contest. Best of luck. Brie

I love the ending. This write made me see through his eyes. The good and the ugly. Very well done. Keep up the writing. Your vision is unique.

yes very good write, he had it all but he didn't have life. I like the format with the last line being indented, it gave it a final punch to drive home points. Well written and I enjoyed it.

Great poem. I like how you put the words together.

His heart yearned for antics

Adventure was beneath him

Life isn't all good with just silk and politics

His darkest secret was lust,

Lust for conflict and chance.

Love that part. Great read.

ahhh yes. One man (or woman) can never have everything. "The best things in life are not hings at all"
"Wretched is peace without war"
We can never know true happiness of something until we live without it.
and money cannot buy happiness.

another wonderful piece that explores the nature of humans. This would be even more effective along side one from the point of view of someone in poverty.

stunning write, great work.

wow, an epoch of a rich writer? Damn man, you are so talented, nice thought of this piece.. he solely regress a life of/or passion to write, not to wonder around the richness that flows in him rather the beauty that aches his spastic fingertips roaring for another 'storied scar'....

"Luxury without any catch" - exaggeratedly beautiful..hahahaa

love how how you interwoven some notions of luxury... like robes, silk, gold... and i didnt get the word 'politics' in here? just a wise guess, are you in politics? hehe.. kip up the nice writes!! KUDOS!

You have a way with words.

This is stunning. I can't really pick a favorite part, but I do love the ending.

Interesting write. We can't imagine being bored with a rich life when we are living closer to poverty. It seems like they could experience the other way around so easily but it is not the same when you don't know what it is like to worry about how your children are going to eat their next meal. No matter how low I get on the poverty poll, I know that there are so many that are lower and do not have access to help. I am definetely thankful for what I have. We should all be thankful for what God gives us and use our blessing to bless others.
Thank you for sharing.
Love All, Mejasha
