Better Me Than You

Better Me Than You

A Poem by Lyssie Perkins

it's hard to believe you really care
when all you do is stare and stare
my face is up here
my breasts are down there

breasts?  what a fine and awful mess
i despise them, this i must confess
now try to listen, if you can
i'm both a woman and a man

what i wouldn't give for one true friend
one who will be there 'till the end
instead of those who leer and leer
due to too much lust or too much beer

the world has eaten all my pride
from perverted men, i try to hide
my life is hard, this much is true
still, better to be me than you

be happy in your own skin, nothing else matters inside your soul at this point.
those who do know you,and are friends, will be happy you enriched their lives.
glad to be able to read some of your work.
