Demon in the Night

Demon in the Night

A Poem by Sequoia

The moon shines upon my slumbering face
And leaves with it a pale and gloomy trace.
For in my mind a stealthy demon creeps
And into my dreams a dreariness seeps.
I toss and turn, I sigh and moan and shout/
The demon laughs, and keeps on his evil bout.
Though I awake the dreariness remains
The absent devil has his nightly gains.

Let me just say first that I love love love this poem. We all battle with demons but the true terror is when they manifest and take form and that is what this is to me, not only that but it conveys the fact that even when you can not see them they are still tearing you apart. A couple of my poems talk about demons and the things that I see that others do not so I can deeply relate to the fear in this writing.
