Neat

Neat

A Poem by Rachel Landes

Well
This is well weird
I am not well

Hospital bed
White
Dripping faces
Pulsing lights
Snow spattered
Heat
And the hospital bed is neat

My mind is tangled
Like wires wired into my arm
My thigh
My stomach
Infection is bad
Please put me to sleep
Make it all seem neat

When I stop shaking
I am shaken
The pain is everywhere
Give me
Blistering
Heat
In my mind

Make me
Beat
Bruises
Are neat

Feeling my feet
Press against
The borders
Of the hospital bed
Feel me frightfully
Try to find
My forgotten feet
