Another Reason

Another Reason

A Poem by Rachel Landes

Man
Was the man I saw today
You

But if I am not me
Than you are not you
So I can't have seen you

Out (right there)
It wasn't right
To have you sitting on a bench

As the taxi drifted past
And the googly eyes float by
And the shiny shining faces
Stare as I pass by

Are you sleeping sleepy
Go to sleep
And wake up another day
In another world

My stitches are not supposed to
Get wet
Or be torn off
And you are not supposed to see me
Or start to stare at the spaces

You must keep walking
Nowhere
Back to
Nowhere Land

I feel more at home in the hospital
At least there
Everything
Is white
At least there
I do not need to know the time
