Loophole

Loophole

A Poem by Rachel Landes

I am forgotten
Naked
Broken
Left with a
Scratched mind
That stutters
In walk
And speech
And a heart that
Pins me down
As I slowly forget
How to remember
But why run
When I have been found
And so we walk
Arm in arm
And your eyes are burning
And I am gazing
And I want you to kiss me
So bad it hurts
And with hands grazing
And smiles tugging
We find our way
Stumbling
Staggering
Into each other
Like two drunkards
Searching for drugs
And I peer up at you
And I whisper
I love you
And your eyes grow sad
And you say that
You are sorry
For awakening this monster
That we don't know how to
Slay nor satisfy
And I am sorry too
For finding home
In your perfection
And sometimes I think
You took my breath away
But then never gave it back
