A Letter to Mom

A Letter to Mom

A Poem by Rachel Elisabeth
"

This is a poem that I wrote for my mom at the beginning of the year of my first year away from home.

"
Mommy, mommy I need you,
I miss your hugs and kisses everyday,
I know you say I'll see you soon,
And that everything will be okay.
But mommy, please listen to what I have to say,

I wish I could lay in your lap one more time,
And have you laugh with me while I play.
I wish you sang me a child's rhyme,
I want to be a little girl just for one day,
And maybe I'll be okay.
I'm homesick and I miss you so much,
I just want to be held like that small, little girl,
I used to be,
I mean, you are my crutch,
And I want everyone to see.

That my mommy is the best,
And she's my friend,
I can lay my head to rest,
Knowing she's going to be there until the end.

What do you think?
Is it too personal?
Is the atmosphere right?
