A romantic salutation to an unrequited lover.

I know my handwriting isn’t normally this good, 

So I cheated like we all knew that I would, 

But in the end it’s not a bad thing, 

because Love makes decisions on a whim. 

You can’t tell me this is wrong, 

words fill the pages with this song, 

flowing from my fingertips, 

one day pressed against my lips, 

these words are spoken softly like a dream, 

the fabric of my mind rips at the seam, 

now it’s time for you to see the stuffing. 

Words and thoughts protrude like knives, 

even so, I’ll jump from high and take the dive,

after all, they’re not as real as you are, 

despite the way my goals seem so far, 

 I will show you what I can do, 

  I’ll show you that I love you.

It might not feel real, words often don’t, 

but I promise to prove it and I won’t gloat,

surreality will become my greatest feat,
