A Shadow

A Shadow

A Poem by Laraine Davis

How do shadows

Look so alive

Bouncing off the walls

So careless

Yet still so

Full of life

Relented

Peaceful

She wishes she could be

Like the shadows

Striking from one wall

To the next

She wishes she could

Stop thinking

About her life

That reckless catastrophe

And still she wants to be

Beautiful

Not to be

 Shunned upon

By all the things

That she stands for

Is she no different than you?

Maybe she could be a shadow

Dark

Mysterious

Alone

How fascinating

A shadow

On the wall

Sliding past

Everything

Out of sight

Of everyone

The peace

Serenity

How blissful

She wants it

Just like all the rest

I want to be a shadow

Too

On the wall

And be gone

Away

Dispersed

From this world

This chaos

I want to live

My own life

Just like her

Just like

A shadow.
