![]() MoonlightA Story by raver![]() Allegory of the moonlight![]() Once there was a boy who was
very hard working. He used to study very hard and would always come first in
his class. Every morning, before any of his siblings were up, he used to open
his books and revise everything that he had studied the night before. Even
after coming from school when all of his friends would go out and play, he used
to stay home and complete all of his homework before the evening dinner. After
eating dinner also when all of his siblings went off to sleep he used stay
awake and study each and everything that he had studied or done during the day
on his study table under the light of the table lamp. One day, the electricity
of his entire locality was cut off due to some kind of leakage. But still the power
outage did not stop the boy from his daily studies. After dinner, he went to
shop and bought himself a big candle. He then lit the candle and started
studying like any other days. As he did not have the habit of studying under
the candle's light he was having trouble in study but still he continued to go on
and finish his studies. Next day too, the electricity was not restored so again
he had to study under the dim light of the candle. It was the month of June and
the temperature wouldn't even drop below 30ºC even at
nights. So he had opened the window opposite to where he was sitting and was
studying under the dim light of the candle. Just then a cool breeze blew right
from the window into the room, cooling it down but it also blew away the
candle's light making the boy's vision blur for some time. Then after gaining a
little consciousness in his vision he saw his room was brighter than before. He
was astonished by this light that was flowing inside from the window as he had
never seen anything so bright at night before. He turned towards his window and
followed the light that was coming from outside and then he saw the moon in its
full beauty. It was shining like there was no tomorrow and was brighter than
any of the light that he had ever seen at night. In that brightness of night he
could see the river flowing far ahead, the leaves of the trees dancing with the
breeze, distant hill and some kind of nocturnal birds flying and chirping away.
The boy having never seen anything like this before was mesmerized and froze up
looking at the distant moon and its light. © 2015 raver |
