One-Night Stand

One-Night Stand

A Poem by Rapterj
"

Of the sinner and saint

"

Let me tell you a story

Of the one-night stand,

That was doomed to happen

To a married man

Let me tell you the story

Or let me set it straight

A story about love

And how the sinner fell in love with the saint

Too close

On a many night

A friendship

That was more than right

She was single and unafraid

But he was married

And more than ashamed

She would love him

When he wouldn't know

While he was having trouble just letting go

She was perfect in every way

But he was a sinner

And he was falling in love a saint...

In a perfect world where we could agree

This would end so happily

But in today's world, with an adoring wife

This problem would have to end with the end of a life.

So let me tell you if you wouldn't believe

Let me tell you and set it straight

This is the story about the sinner who fell in love with a saint.

So it would happen on a lonely night

He was stranded and she was nice

With the ring that was on his hand

She went to bed with the married man

So in love, and such a mistake

This is the story about the sinner who fell in love a saint.

In the morning when they would both awake

But a smokoing gun would start the day.

Several gunshots fired away

He was married and so ashamed

She was single and unafraid.

But that morning when the police arrived,

The wife was still standing with the rage in her eyes

Its a story that you wouldn't believe

A simple story about a married man

Who fell in love with a one-night stand

Its a story of a lonely mistake

This is the story

Yeah, I was listening to "the Joker and thief" by wolfmother and some other lyrics came to mind...

I like the story you tell here. It remains chronological throughout and offers a moral dilemma that you deal with in a very sad, but plausible, way.
The rhymes present at odd times do well to accentuate certain parts. The repeating line of,
"the sinner who fell in love with a saint"

Well done.
