The Song of Freedom

The Song of Freedom

A Poem by Rashmi Kulal
"

Finding freedom..

"

Unbeknownst to ponderous souls,

beyond the shackles of incessant goals,

ignorant of rules bothersome,

soar high the wings of freedom.

That which lies in a child's carefree cackle,

in the pleasant whoosh of a harvest sickle,

in the warmth of the hearth on a rainy night,

amidst the emotions that swell at a beloved's sight,

behold the freedom of joy!

He who has shed tears of blood,

for the ones that perished, in war or flood,

for the lifeless eyes that once shone with pride,

for the leprous hand, the irises blind,

and thereafter, learnt to smile again,

he knows now the freedom of pain.

From the wondrousness of the heavens above,

stardust unraveled a precious gift,

he who receives it with faith and love,

for him, the illusion of bondage shall lift,

and thenceforth, he shall in abundance thrive,

for that gift is life, the freedom of being alive!
