Mother's Regret

Mother's Regret

A Poem by C.L. Wilson

She sat in the pew

In front of a stain glass mural

Of the blessed Virgin Mother

Glowing with a golden dawn.

In her arms is a babe

A child of past and future shame

So tender and filled with life

Peaceful in his blessed slumber

She rises to the alter

And falls to her knees gently

Tears slipping down on her child

As she laid him down on the floor

In her heart is sorrow

A sadness that flows out her eyes

So painful it was but there was hope

For the future of her only regret
