Hollow

Hollow

A Poem by ...

There's a hole in my heart
A wound that never seems to heal
A crevice at my center
That mirrors the emptiness I feel

That's where I keep you
Tucked deep away beneath my soul
I keep hoping but never learning
You cannot make me whole

You dug too deep and now I'm broken
I cover the truth with lies I believe
But when the cavity fills with darkness
There's nothing I can do to stop the bleed

A splintered apology is all you gave me
And I felt the fissure take hold
The dismissive silence rang loudly
The words I needed left untold

Now I'm hollow and incomplete
nursing the space where you used to fit
I am a splintered me with pieces missing
Pieces that you hold without knowing it
