The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Tiffaniie
"

Depression is more than angst and sadness...

"

The clouds roll in,

And I don’t know myself anymore.

The rain pours in torrents,

And I brace myself for the storm.

The lightning flashes before me,

And I stand, wishing it had come closer.

The thunder sounds,

And a single sob shakes my core.

Depression overcomes me,

And I take comfort in its shadows.

The pain has passed;

But the numbness will forever remain.

The tears fall . . . .

And the storm continues.

I love the "offset" rhyme produced by the assonance of [anyMORE, TORrents, storm and core] The poem also has a solid well-constructed rhythm.
