Call

Call

A Poem by Syed Musab Raza

From pit of regret, you yearn a ray of light

To wake up from the bed to continue this venture with might

A dangling notion in your head

Infuses a spark to walk ahead

With complete sameness on your face

You wear a perfect disguise

You veil yourself in a suite

To conceal the inner truth

Obliviating yourself in this illusory stage

Taking deliberate steps towards a deceiving cage

To match the pace of this revolving sphere

You ignore the beauty of moments in fear

Silent like a silhouette you submerge in the outer world

A traveler without a destination you walk amid the crowd

Gazing through those vacant eyes

Scrambling to find where solace lies

In effort to paint the rocks in gold

Forgetting all the miseries untold

Failing to realize what this world is worth

Carving false idols from potter’s earth

Ages you have spent clustering the odd

What it really the will of God?

Finding in abyss a sacred treasure

These attempts in vain give you restlessness in leisure

Getting attached with these treacherous clay

Standing firmly still like a beacon at bay

You are gradually losing the aura you once possessed

Trading your soul to complete this quest

At the end of the day when you look in the mirror on the shelf

It’s hard to deny you have become queerer to yourself
