An explanation on the status of religion.

"
Once upon a time, there was a place that was a lot like the place you are now, except it was very different.  In this place, people started liking to write, and liked it more and more, and eventually made up a religion centered around the rules of writing.

And in this religion, new and shiny as a penny just minted, the people prospered.  They wrote wonderful stories, poems, and songs.  They also wrote informative essays, which were printed in newspapers with intelligent sounding names like The Working Man's Review.

But, as with any religion, there were those who opposed the gentle people and their ways.  These other people shunned anything that had to do with the religion, which was fine except the religion was followed by quite a few people and they had very nice parties to which everyone was invited, so the shunners missed out on quit a bit.

Now, some of the more radical practitioners of the religion became fed up with this.  They decided to force the shunners into submission by trying to correct them every tiem they did something against the religion.  The shunners grew irascible around those who followed the religion, whether they chastised them or not.

And so, the two groups were divided into three by a few's unwillingness to live with people of other ideals, and that is how they have been for generations.

I know shunners isn't a word, however this was meant to be told in the style of a storybook narrative for children.
