As If You Never Left

As If You Never Left

A Poem by Rebecca Hope Rouston

i really do miss the sound of your scream

before my feet hit the ground i see

the glass stained with blood so red

i wish i could get you out of my head

she said she doesn't want to be alone

with the lights out here because no ones home

i wish your breath left a wound on my skin

this could be avoided had i never let you in

the morning only reminds me you're gone

to make everyday feel way too long

and when god decides i've done enough

in this life though getting through's been rough

i'll be safely in your arms where i belong

i'll sing to you our familiar songs

and this world will end where our colours blend

into perfect shades and our hearts will mend

it's as if you never left...
