Good Thing

Good Thing

A Poem by Rebekah W.

Must all good things come to an end?
I like to imagine they don't.
How boring the sun would become without seasons of snow...
And while I know time is always progressing,
how can it be that all we have will merely be a lesson?
One would do well not to mention your name
when speaking of things that have come and will go,
for I know I will not make it through the day you become nothing more than a distancing shadow.
But to them I say, "What if you're wrong?
What if this good thing can stay?"
After all, if I could have one wish of love not lost,
I would send it your way.
And while they all pity my imagination and dread the day I meet reality,
my heart still smiles wide.
The joke is on them, my love, don't you see?
For you're ever in my heart, if sparse by my side.
And in that, this good thing will last.

How true that life would be boring if all good things come to an end.
Life is a lesson but my perception is; it's how you handle life's lessons that matters:)
Great piece I enjoyed it.

I love how you mention in the beginning how the end of a good thing makes us appreciate it more. The end, two words that I love together, Unconditional Love. Magnificent! Great write!
