A Deep Breath

A Deep Breath

A Poem by Anne Lockhart

Even though you aren't here, I still have to breathe.
Sitting here and missing you is getting me nowhere,
so I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
The sea reminds me of our love - deep and endless.
The leaves fall to the ground, nature is taking its course
But still, I sit here.
A deep breath may be calming for a moment, but the seconds feel like years when you aren't here.

I live life, but it isn't the same without you by my side.
And so, I shall take a million deep breaths until you return.

I've got that feeling with some people... it really sucks. This piece is great! Although I feel there could be more, but great nonetheless. Very relatable. I could kinda see a girl, just like you, sitting on the end of a empty boat and just looking out at the open sea, remembering that special person... I guess I've been watching the music video to Come Over by Kenny Chesney too much, but it fits! Great one!
