How Do You

How Do You

A Poem by redzone
"

fantasy....

"

HOW DO YOU?

How do you soothe a heart

while attempting to disengage

time, distance, space

and the duration of life contradictions?

It’s not like you can easily say,

"come to me babe, let me hold

your hand,

walk with me barefoot

on springtime sand."

She may not understand

you just want to be with her,

share and experience

a mutual perspective

filled with a reflective

pursuit of a world made real

with human social association

and collective adventures

for the common good.

****

But words get tangled

on my tongue

unable to realize how to escape

into the air

and change forever the silence

of my silly stare.

Perhaps it is realizing these contradictions

are real;

that you don’t play with time,

distance,

space

and the duration of life

on a wishful urge of fantasy

too often due to loneliness

and middle life.

Perhaps too, it is only fear.

Rejection?

Past failure?

Even success?!

All these clichés swirl in my head.

No answers

just silly stupidity

and I can’t get your face

stop following me where ever I go.

I see your wicked smile,

slightly up-turned lips.

They pound my mind with,

"taste me, please!"

And I would be lost

phasing in and out of time,

each phase a different shade of

the blue in your gleaming eyes.

Lost in the way my hands

would surround

the small of your back,

pressing you closer to me.

Lost in the feel of parted lips

and warm breath on my face

from your sighing smile.

****

But enough!

I can’t be in love with you.

How do you soothe a heart

with no answers,

a frozen tongue,

yet lost in hopes and desires?

Maybe you will let me know?!

I think you and Ron are competing with Jack ( just kidding ), the king of romance...
But all joking aside this was awesome.

Words may get tangled on your tongue, but certainly not around your fingertips, Curt. There was some surprising rhyme in this one.....into the air/silly stare....and I liked it. It lightened the intensity of emotion in the poem. Your hands in the small of her back....OMG....sensual! Those blue eyes and seductive lips will capture you every time. The heart does not care if it "can't " be in love with a particular person....the heart does not follow logical pathways. I seem to remember this poem...you wrote it many years ago. I wonder if she still haunts you. It's a bittersweet situation really. However, it does make for excellent poetry that certainly stands the test of time. Very "nice" my friend. Lydi**
