GAIA

GAIA

A Poem by redzone

Gaia

You know,
when you see our world
from outer space,
there are no borders!
No manifest destiny
or chosen people.
So why is the USA #1?
Except,
because of
genocide, slavery
and the barbarity
of rivers of blood
that flowed, and flows
out of the barrel
of a gun!

And,
there has never been
anything good about
living parasitically
off the people
of the world.

A very strong write. Patriotism can turn to chauvinism in a blink of an eye. We need to have a political units but we need to see ourselves as human first.

oh my goodness, what a theme....and the last lines drive it home so hard...

living parasitically off of others....

yeah sure, We're number 1! not so, these days...we have not acted like we deserve that mantra.

I was expecting some enchanting poem about earth mother Gaia but you've given us some food for thought here instead. Great write sir.

Definitely not what I was expecting Curt, it reads as a Greek tragedy but the subject
matter hits close to our home. I think this can be read both ways, depending on your
viewpoint. Genocide has occurred often and without protest most of the time. Whatever
happened to the Genocide Convention? If we had intervened sooner, the Holocaust would
possibly not have continued on for over six and a half years, saving countless lives
.....there are few answers and many ambivalent solutions that flow from the barrel of a gun, but sometimes it's the lesser of two evils...

Much food for thought here my dear friend. x
