A Higher Perspective

A Higher Perspective

A Poem by Reed Marcotte
"

Trying to see life from a more loving place.

"
Atop the world I perch
in truth I search
looking to and fro
high and low
my eyes see most of you
some are real
some are not
I wonder about the norm
Are they true to themselves
or just a drift of wood
going with the flow
Hey, over there
look where I can see
about their business they go
as I crow
A woman who looks familiar
she reflects the likings of me
the only problem I see
is her mirror constantly
Who is this passerby
why does she cry
She's one of God's
She looks good to me
but in her eyes
appears differently
Be who you are
my fearful friend
Be everlasting
Because that's what you are
while the temp you wear
fades away
leaving just you
my little star

I liked the title and how it matches you sort of looking down and judging everyone. The rhyming watered-down the message a bit. It felt like the impact some of the lines could have made were lightened just so the word at the end could rhyme. Sometimes they're written wonderfully, sometimes they're not. Thank you for sharing.

I love how the narrator walks by all these people who are busy carrying on with their lives. I like the specific imagery throughout. It's beautiful.
