A Poem by Regina K. Pride
"

My response to there being so many poems about death. I wanted to write something that didn't scream "death in the family." 5/26/2011

"

There’s a single,
yellow rose

planted in
a glass vase

in the middle
of the wooden

dining room table,
lighted by
lamp dangling

overhead

with my grand-
mother’s DNA

embedded into
every

wilted
petal.

This is such a unique way of looking at those cherished memories a loved one leaves behind. I'm sure your grandmother will have read and loved every line.

Beccy.
