The Hell With Love

The Hell With Love

A Poem by Rebekah Faith Vrabel

Bitter

The Hell With Love

Put this between your pages
along with the crushed flowers
you placed in my curls.
Imaginary love like millions
of stars that disappear from
the glow of the kitchen light.
Drink wine and taste the virginity
before it aged into maturity.
I’m the lone woman walking
in an evening gown on the interstate
waiting for the answer to glisten
in front of me like the shards of broken
glass and rusty scent of DNA and
cigarettes.
