Dancing Spirit

Dancing Spirit

A Poem by Aehr

Your arms spread out wide
Your sad, expressionless face
Your ghostly graceful body
Of happiness, not one trace
I see you dancing on the moonlit beach
Your haunted, lonesome dance
Inhabitants always spin up stories
To see you, whenever they get a chance
They say you drowned in the sea one night
Your lover left you dead
And you wait every night for him to come
That's what the locals said
Your hair a rippling cascade
You dance till the crack of dawn
And before any fishermen can come by
The locals say you're gone
I hide behind a boulder
To see you dance your way
I silently wish and pray for
Your lover to come for you someday

Nicely done! What an interesting story you tell in such a flowing poem, this is one of my favorites. Luv it!

A beautiful poem. Good to watch the spirits dance from a distance. I like the good description and beautiful artwork. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

A soul waiting for their lover to return. So sad. They must be lost and they must feel as if they will return. When they sadly won't.
another amazing write.
