He.

He.

A Poem by Aehr

He..
He was different.
He felt skin connect to skin more than anyone else, at every touch.
His muscles relaxed in a way no one else's did, when he breathed in,
The scent crafted by the rain lingering in the air beneath the clouds.
He saw more than what was before his eyes-he saw beyond.
He heard more than the rawness of words and their dry meaning.
He never said much, but he didn't need to-
I knew his thoughts by the way his forehead creased,
And his posture changed. We shared a bond -
As nameless as the light that shone in his eyes when he smiled.
Because I was a daisy behind a rock watching the world go by,
And he...
He was different.
He loved deeper than the colour of blood on bare white skin,
Cut by the thorn of the stem of a rose.
And so when the same stem cut his own skin open,
He hurt more than anyone else ever did, ever would.

Wow I've read a few of your poems now and I feel a different emotion with every one. I felt an immediate connection with the character, what a truly sad poem.
