Misfavorits

Misfavorits

A Poem by Mariah Lynn Thompson

We are the misfits
But also the favorites
Inside they want to imitate
Outside they discriminate
Everyone is so CRITICAL!
I can take no more

Black sheep of the clan
But black is stylish, man
They talk behind hands
Follow society's demands
We refuse to fall
Into your fake demeanor

We're alien from the rest
Still trying our very best
But we aren't interested
In anything they've said
About us in whispers
And secret conversation

We aren't who they want
That life, a lie, I can't
Can't live with it, don't want to
Don't want to be like you
You're a little bit boring
And lacking in commiseration

Sometimes I have sympathy
But I see the psycopathy
Makes it hard to empathize
When I see the intent in your eyes
I see it in your action
And I hear it in your words

But you can't break us down
Your face, a forever frown
You dont understand us inside
Instead with us you deride
But we have our armor
And we have our swords
