Fortune Cookie

Fortune Cookie

A Poem by Richard Lane

there are days when all you want
is to do is  walk along
the empty coastline
of a beach somewhere
as you carry in your hand
a book by dorothy parker
while listening to the
birds and the dolphin's as they
seem to be singing in
one voice that sometimes the holding
of a lovers
hands is a much more satisfying way
to communicate than
either a mobile phone or a laptop
because eventually
those machines will become obsolete
and then our human race  will
have to invent other methods for saying i love you.
