Two Numbers

The anguish, clouded memories of destruction. Loved ones, strangers...murdered. Terror at its worst. Remember.

A number. Another number…a reminder.

Number-slash-Number.

 

Pictures in our mind

Embedded in our psyches.

Two towers…two airplanes.

Destruction on live TV.

 

Phone lines clogged, anguish needing voice.

Some get through. Some from the towers.

Some say, “I’m OK.”

Some say…”I love you.”

Some say…”Goodbye.”

 

Onlookers…witnesses…

Running, shrouded in dust

And ash

Clouds. Choking.

 

Survivors. Thanking God for life.

Cursing God for what He allowed.

 

Now reminders. Rebuilding. Memorials.

But always…Remembering.

With love and anguish.

Emphasizing the love.

Forever.

The destruction and chaos caused by 9/11 was unparalleled.. and your words shook us with the tragedy it spread, 14 years on..the song was really befitting of the occasion, "Amazing Grace"...
"Some say...Goodbye".
That really got to my emotions, and highlighted to me that not everyone is as fortunate as we are...how we have this beautiful short span of time called Life.. the form of this piece was in itself another reminder of the deep cracks wrecked into the lives of the families who have lost loved ones..and to millions more worldwide who were watching..

If you ever feel like digging waaaaaaay back to my earliest posts on WC you'll find a song called "shrouded sun (9/12/01)" that I wrote about the day after, the shock, still reeling...be glad that you were probably too young to realize the horrific maze we all walked through after, in the bone-bending aftermath. Thanks for the kind words, Kathryn. The anniversaries of the day always affect me; most other men think that I'm way too emotional to be "cool" like they are. 8^) As far as the links, I wrote down how (given to me by someone else...I couldn't figure it out either) in a Word doc. I can message you, copy/paste the doc to instruct you. But the instructions are for how to attach music/video that will start playing as soon as the reader clicks the link to view the poem/story. When you receive the instructions, just DON'T INSERT the code given into the URL. Just copy/paste the URL without the additional code and it will appear, available to be clicked on if the reader so chooses. Got it? If you have any problems just message me back, OK? This has helped many others who've asked me how. Good luck, and take care...dan

and I think it's good to let your emotions show. We are only human after all right? And from an early age men are taught to hide their emotions which I think is kind of wrong...

I actually learned from MY dad that it's ok to let your emotions show, it doesn't make me any less of a man...when I was young I had to get in a few fistfights to prove it. But when the Internet came to prominence they had these websites you could put up for free, just 'personal' sites, not for business, through companies like Geocities, which I went through. I published my poetry there, my satirical comedy, fake interviews with real celebrities, any kind of s**t I wanted to publish. And I called my site, "The Sensitive Guy." The SPLASH PAGE (which the introductory page was called) featured a graphic of a real photo (NOT real action) of a guy holding a gun to his head. And it all had to be written, with graphics inserted, in HTML code, which was painstaking and a real pain in the a*s...but WAY worth it! I'll shut up now...psst, are you even awake? 8^) Did you try to insert music yet? Please let me know when you do, and please keep RRs coming, I like your writing a lot. take care...dan
