I'm Fine

I'm Fine

A Poem by Trikkr

“I’m fine”.

She shies away,

She acts coldly,

She distances herself from those that anger her.

Her heart aches,

But still she maintains,

“I’m fine”

“I am bigger than this”

“I can keep myself together”

“I will rise above my challenges”

She assures herself.

But the anger burns,

The anger rages.

She locks her heart tighter, affirming

“I’m fine”,

Each time the anger tries to escape her.

Don’t believe her,

She lies.

For emotions cannot be quieted down,

Anger cannot be tamed,

And disregard is no way to treat pain.

Confidence, success, popularity are such effective masks.

But never assume the same lies underneath.

And when sad eyes meet yours, and say

“I’m fine”.

“Nothing’s wrong”.

“There’s nothing to talk about”.

Do not judge by the smile,

By the confident tone.

Know that it is in your hands.

Here is the translation:

“I’m not fine”.

“Everything’s wrong”.

“I desperately need somebody to listen”.
