Seasons

Seasons

A Poem by Riss Ryker
"

A poem about the beauty of the changing seasons.

"

Cold October skies at night.
Stars that hang like shimmering ice.
Morning walk, on crunchy frost.

Cloudless skies of deepest blue,
brings the Northern breezes through.
Frozen world of wintery white.

Western winds blows cold away.
But stubborn Winter wants to stay.
The lion beats the lamb.

Finally Spring breaks Winter’s hold,
and from the ground new tales are told.
Green again, Earths birthday.

Summer sun, Earth lush and green.

She gives life to all unselfishly.

Prosperity abounds.

I love living in the Northeast and experiencing each and every season. Fall is my favorite. NY in the fall is like walking through living colors....

I used to live in Baltimore, and I dearly love the change of seasons. Our mountains here in San Diego offer a wonderful world of change, especially this time of year when there's actually snow!

I really love writing about the seasons in my work, just as much as I love reading about them. I like how you presented this to your readers, how the stanzas revolve, one season into the next.

Good work, Riss!

i grew up in Syracuse and know exactly what you mean .. i like your use of tercets .. gives your poem a haiku quality .. and i love your mention of the winds .. when it turns from out of the west to the breezy from the south winds .. the scents change and that marvelous hope of spring is the best! tho fall is also my favorite time also ..
