Dear Lord, Teach Me To Pray

Dear Lord, Teach Me To Pray

A Poem by if i were a season i'd be winter

Dear Lord,

Teach me to live, that

I may reflect what I have just seen

Teach me to love, that

I might honor the sacrifices here

Teach me to trust, that

I can defend the ones who stand beside me

Teach me to hate, that

I should never fall but to an honorable sword

Teach me to stand, that

I will rule as the Spartans did

Teach me to fight, that

I shall never die in shame

Teach me to bow to no man but

my king and

myself.

Teach me to learn evermore

what it  means to be

a husband, a father,

a mother, and

a daughter.

Dear Lord,

Teach me to live

and to love,

to trust

and to hate,

to stand

and to fight,

to stay tall

and to learn,

that I may one day die

a true man

a true warrior

a true kind

and in a true love.

The title to this poem immediately aroused my attention. I am reaching out to learning how to pray more than ever. In fact, I prayed this morning on the subject. You ask the Lord to teach you how to live. When we are given the answers on how to live the abundant life, we are destined for inner peace. "Teach me to Love" - thus making peace around us. Having love produces so much positivity around us. "Teach me to bow to man" - very powerful. Too many in this world bow down to other men. For example, in the martial arts field. I once did this, and now I look back and see how ridiculous and how much pride is lost doing this. This poem is filled with humility. I absolutely loved it.
