The Importance I Once Knew

The Importance I Once Knew

A Poem by Rajive

It has never been so clear

MY eyes opened and I’m finally aware

I hear the trees as the wind passes by

Every bird that chirps, every baby that cries

I se pollen floating from one flower to another

While my heart thumps harder than any other

Why am I in this? What should I do?

Do I really remember the meaning of I love you?

My heart is heavy and my mind is full

I’ve yet to feel the importance I once knew

I sing a lonely song with a very sad tune

Tears running down my cheeks, eyes focused on the moon

They say that a man should never cry

But this is one man that would rather die

Clustered in emotion I sit down dumb

Not a word, not a sigh, my lips get numb.

I know I’m in love or that’s what I think this is

But if only I could remember what is bliss

My heart is heavy and my mind is full

I’ve yet to feel the importance I once knew

The saddest sound is you saying his name

I forget that I exist and wonder off in pain

I keep my feelings to myself ‘cause it will only in pain

I wish I was buried six feet below dirt

I know you love me and I love you

But I can’t help but to know that you love him too

You said if you were to choose you would choose me

But I’m starting to wonder how long this will be.

My heart is heavy and my mind is full

I’ve yet to feel the importance I once knew
